Do You Have Spiritual Blindspots?
When Jesus walked on this earth, He encountered religious leaders—namely, Pharisees and scribes—whom He identified as “blind guides leading the blind” (Matt. 15:14). He wasn’t saying they lacked physical sight. What they lacked was the ability to see what should have been obvious—that He is the Light of the World.
This week, we see these Pharisees and scribes putting tradition over truth. Jesus calls them out about how much they put into the ceremonial washing of hands. Jesus shifted the focus from external and ritual cleanliness to internal and moral purity: “It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man” (Matthew 15:11).
