I cannot tell you how often I have heard people say that I am glad I live in the New Testament age rather than the Old Testament. We don’t have to make sacrifices like they did in the Old Testament, but God treated us like children with simple rules and commandments in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, God treats us like adults and wants more from us. He wants us to follow the spirit of these commandments. That is what we are examining today. In this week’s joke, An older couple is lying in bed one morning, having awakened from a good night’s sleep. He takes her hand, and she responds, “Don’t touch me.” “Why not?” he asks. She answers back, “Because I’m dead.”
